Why Blog a Monkey??

Last year, my fiance, Don, and I 'aquired' a monkey. He's cute, he's cuddley and we decided that he needed to hang with us. You see, Don and I together have 5 kids (yes, 5!) - His are Tyler (16), Keenan (13) and Katriel (9), and mine are Tucker (9) and Jacob (7). We love our kids, but, man, is it a pain to travel with them - Keenan and Katriel fight, Tucker and Katriel fight, Tyler and Keenan fight, Jacob and Tucker fight, and while Jacob and Katriel don't usually fight, they sure are LOUD. So, we asked ourselves 'what better traveling companion than a monkey!'

At the start of this Blog, Monkey has traveled in 4 countries and several US cities. He's met a ton of people and gotten many, many strange looks from people who just don't understand monkey-magnetism. He's met Elvis, a purple Red-Hatter witch (still don't understand that one), confused Italian waiters and the Marines. He's ridden a donkey, gone tubin' and hung out in a big red Hummer. Wherever we go, people want to know where Monkey is going next. Enjoy his pictures and stay tuned for more Monkey adventures!

Monkey Meets His Uncle

Monkey's first trip was to Raft-Up in Seneca, SC in July 2005. Raft-Up was on Lake Keowee near the Tiki Hut - it's where a bunch of boats get together, hang out and party all day. Here he and Don are posing with the New Rock 93.3 Gorilla, who swore he was Monkey's Uncle, but I wasn't buying it.

Monkey Goes Commando (no, really, he does)

Monkey met a big, bad-ass Marine.....

and was invited to hang out in the Big Red hummer. He got to keep the hat too!!

What's Up With the Purple Red-Hatter Witch??

Later in the summer, on the way to Michigan, we stopped in Tennessee, and this purple witch was just staring at Monkey (I think she wanted to date him) Monkey, being the gentleman that he is, jumped in the witch's car and posed for a photo. Luckily we ditched the witch and Monkey's virtue remained intact.

Monkeys Gone Wild

In Michigan, Monkey went tubin' with Don and Jacob. Doesn't Don look scared?

By the way, If you notice, in the picture with the witch, Monkey has a green lai and a flower lei.... He lost both while tubin' but only recovered the green one.

Silly Monkey.

Next Monkey Went to Beantown

Being a patriotic Monkey, he poses at the grave of Paul Revere.....

Being a thirsty Monkey, he next stepped into the Beantown Pub where the very nice bar tenders let him draw his own suds.

Monkey Speaks Latin

Monkey found a Donkey and went for a ride.

This Donkey is at the Latin School and represents Democrats. In front of the donkey, there are a pair of foot prints where Republicans are supposed to 'stand in opposition' to the Democratic party.

Monkey Meets Elvis

Little did we know that Elvis lived in Boston. Apparently he's not dead, but just working the tour boats off Long Wharf.

Elvis and the chick with the wild hat aren't kissing the camera, they're going "ooh, ooh", Monkey-speak for 'cheese!'

One if By Land, Two if by... Monkeys??

At the Old North Church, an old colonial dude sat Monkey and Don down on the steps and gave them a pamphlet to read. He told us they were 'reading between the lions'. Get it?? See the stone lions flanking the steps. I never realized they were so funny in Colonial Boston!

So Much for the Historical Stuff... Let's Get Some Beer!

After a long day of touring Boston, we went down to Fenway Park just to see what was up. Across from the park is the Boston Beer Works, a former stomping ground of our friend, Ken Ferace. So we stopped in for a Blueberry Beer. The guys let Monkey hang around behind the bar while we drank our beer. Blueberry beer is cool - they put actual blueberries in the beer and they bob up and down like a lava lamp... at least until the beer is gone, then they just lay on the bottom of the glass or in your tummy. Yum.

Well, that's the highlights of Monkey's trip to Boston. Where will he go next??
